Is your Patio turning green? We may have an explanation

Is your Patio turning green? We may have the explanation below

Generally speaking, here at the Azpects customer complaints desk I feel quite lonely as I rarely hear from anyone. Now whilst that is a good sign of reliable products I can get quite bored.

Luckily for me, Mother Nature has been at it again and my phone has warmed up a little.

The cause of this sudden interest in me is all due to Algae. That yucky green and black life form that thrives in our lovely damp weather.

In some areas of the country the growth of said little blighter has been upsetting people by turning their beautiful driveways, paths and patios a varying shade of green and making areas slippery.

Now this effect is an environmental issue, not the fault of anyone or anything relating to work carried out - it is purely 'one of those things’.

So what can you do about it? Well a look at www.pavingexpert.com or similar forum will provide you with some useful answers but basically speaking you will need to use some form of algae remover and treat the affected area.

Then, after cleaning you need to adjust your thinking; the garden is outside! It will get dirty and in time the appearance will change.

All joking aside, over time anything that is subject to the elements and left in the garden will attract algae, moss and lichen and unfortunately due to the higher than average rain fall and warmer temperatures experienced this year there has been a marked increase in unwanted fungal growth.

The ground under your paving has been holding moisture for even longer than usual which causes the perfect conditions for algae and other unwanted organic matter to grow furiously.

This higher moisture content can also make lighter coloured joints appear darker that they originally were. Things will generally start to improve in the following summer months when the weather is drier and warmer.

Here at Azpects we sell helpful products to aid you in keeping your garden's hard surfaces looking better for longer such as:

EASY ALGAE REMOVER
EASY PATIO & DECK CLEANER
